Fall break is coming — and it's a real one

Corpus Christi ISD's fall intersession runs October 12–16, 2026, giving local families a full week off — and giving visiting families a great excuse to plan a trip around it. Pair that with the fact that Gulf water is still warm well into October and hotel rates tend to dip once summer crowds thin out, and fall break in Corpus Christi quietly becomes one of the best value windows of the year.

• Texas Jazz Festival — October 16–18. The longest-running free jazz festival in the country lands in Heritage Park for a weekend of live music across multiple stages, food vendors, and that easy, laid-back coastal energy jazz festivals do best.

  
  

• Dia de los Muertos Street Festival — October 24. One of South Texas's most anticipated cultural events takes over ten blocks of downtown from 3 p.m. to midnight — live music on four stages, an arts and crafts expo with dozens of vendors, a lowrider car show, and the Community Ofrenda Display, one of the most moving parts of the whole celebration.

  
  

• Greek Festival — November 6–8. A Corpus Christi tradition since 1963, hosted by St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Expect gyros, spanakopita, live Greek music and dancing, church tours, and a market full of imported goods — all free to attend.

For sports fans, the Corpus Christi IceRays kick off their 2026–27 season September 11 against the El Paso Rhinos at the Hilliard Center Arena — fast, physical junior hockey that's become a genuine local pastime, and a fun cold-weather contrast to a warm coastal day.
