Why Corpus Christi? Our Founder's Story

Every hospitality brand starts with a place, and for Bay Area Bliss, that place was never in question. It had to be Corpus Christi.

I didn't come to hospitality through a traditional path. My background is in HR and administration, not hospitality or design — but if you've ever worked in HR, you know it's really a job about people: what makes them feel taken care of, what makes them feel seen, what makes an experience feel like more than a transaction. That instinct followed me long after I left the daily grind.

What changed things was simply paying closer attention to my own city. Corpus Christi doesn't market itself the way bigger coastal cities do. It's not trying to be Miami or Charleston. It has its own rhythm — the bay, the murals, the way Selena's memory still shapes downtown, the community events that fill up a Saturday without anyone needing to leave the city limits. The more time I spent really looking at it, the more I realized how much of that gets missed by visitors who breeze through without anyone pointing it out.

That's the gap Bay Area Bliss was built to fill. Not just a place to sleep, and not just a box of nice-smelling toiletries — but a way of experiencing Corpus Christi the way someone who genuinely loves this city would want you to experience it. Thoughtfully. Locally. Without pretense.

The name conveys not just a feeling, but an intention: Bliss isn't loud. It's not extravagance for its own sake. It's the feeling of being exactly where you're supposed to be, and taken care of in ways you don't have to ask for.

I'm building this business one piece at a time — from welcome boxes to guided and self-guided tours and Coastal Connections networking events — but the goal has stayed the same since the beginning: showcase the very best of what the Bay Area has to offer, for visitors and native Corpus Christians alike.

This is still early. But if you're here reading this, you're part of that story too — and I'm glad you're here.
